OAKLAND: The Raiders are coming off a 17-6 loss to the Panthers on the road. Oakland has now lost seven of their last eight games to fall to 4-11 on the season. Oakland has failed to score more than 17 points in their last six games. In this game, Oakland amassed just 189 total yards of offense. Carson Palmer was injured in the game and replaced by Matt Leinart. Palmer will not be able to play against the Chargers. Defensively, Oakland held Carolina somewhat in check, allowing just 271 total yards, but they did give up 112 rushing yards to the Panthers.
SAN DIEGO: The Chargers are coming off a 27-17 win over the Jets last week. It was the second win in three weeks for San Diego. The Chargers had just 223 yards of offense in the win, but got a special teams touchdown and three field goals in the victory. The defense did shine in the win, holding the Jets to just 225 yards with two turnovers and an amazing 11 sacks. Offensively, Philip Rivers was 11 of 22 passing for 165 yards and two touchdowns. Rivers has been in a bit of a funk as of late. He has thrown for 200 yards or less in his last three games and has no touchdown passes with six interceptions in that span.
ODDS: Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv have yet to release odds for this game due to the injury issues surrounding the game right now. San Diego is 6-9 on the season, 2-5 at home and 7-8 against the spread. Oakland is 4-11 overall, 1-6 on the road and 4-11 against the spread. The Chargers own a 22-14 win over the Raiders in Oakland this season.
TRENDS: The underdog is 7-0 against the spread in the last seven games between these two teams and the road team has also covered in four straight in this series. The Raiders are 5-2 against the spread in their last 7 against the Chargers and these two have combined to hit the under in 13 of their last 17 meetings in San Diego.
