DETROIT: The Lions are coming off a heart-breaking, 35-33, loss to the Colts last Sunday. The Lions led the game by 12 points with just four minutes to play but managed to lose the game on the final play. Detroit has now dropped four straight since getting to 4-4 on the season. To make matters worse, the Lions have lost 21 straight to the Packers in Green Bay. In the loss to the Colts, the issue was defense, as Detroit gave up 459 total yards to the Colts, including 391 passing yards to Andrew Luck. Offense hasn’t been much of an issue, as the Lions had another strong showing from Matthew Stafford, who had 313 yards on 27 of 46 passing. Receiver Calvin Johnson had his fifth-straight game with at least 129 receiving yards as well, as he caught 13 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown.
GREEN BAY: The Packers beat the Vikings, 23-14, last week to get to 8-4 on the season and in a tie for first in the NFC North with the Bears. Green Bay has won six of its last seven games. The Packers had another strong offensive output, posting 435 yards against a respectable Minnesota defense. Aaron Rodgers threw for 286 yards and a touchdown on 27 of 35 passing and the team rushed for a 152 yards, which is much more than they typically get. Defensively, the Packers allowed just 14 points, but they did give up 240 rushing yards. One issue for Green Bay coming into this game is injuries as G T.J. Lang, WR Jordy Nelson, LB Clay Matthews and S Charles Woodson are all doubtful to play.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Packers are 7-point favorites versus the Lions, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 49 points. Green Bay is 8-4 on the season, 5-1 at home and 6-6 against the spread. Detroit is 4-8 overall, 2-4 on the road and 5-7 against the spread.
TRENDS: The Lions are 3-10 against the spread in their last 13 overall meetings with the Packers and 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 trips to Green Bay. These two teams have hit the under in 5 of their last 7 meetings, but they have hit the over in 4 of their last 5 encounters at Lambeau Field.
