GREEN BAY: The Packers went into their bye last weekend having won four straight games and five of their last six. They’ve also covered the spread in three of their last four games, including a 31-17 victory over the Cardinals as a 10.5-point home favorite in Week 9. Aaron Rodgers currently leads the team with 2,383 passing yards while James Jones has a team-high 8 touchdowns while seeing extensive action with starters Greg Jennings and Jordy Nelson nursing injuries. Green Bay is now 6-3 straight up and 4-5 against the spread in 2012. The over is 6-3 in their first nine games.
DETROIT: The Lions had their two-game win streak snapped last Sunday in a 34-24 loss to the Vikings. They also failed to cover the spread for the first time in their past five games, as they lost as a 3-point road favorite. At 4-5 their postseason hopes are quickly fading, especially seeing as how they play in a division that features the Bears (7-2), Packers (6-3) and Vikings (6-4). Matthew Stafford leads the team with 2,722 passing yards while Mikel Leshoure has a team-high 418 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Detroit is 4-5 against the spread this season and the over is 6-2 in the team’s first eight games.
ODDS: Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv have installed the Packers as 3.5-point favorites versus the Lions, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 51.5 points. Green Bay is 6-3 overall and 2-2 on the road, while Detroit is 4-5 overall and 2-1 at home.
TRENDS: The Packers are 5-1 against the spread in their last six trips to Detroit, while the Packers are 9-3 against the number in their last 12 games overall versus the Lions.
