INDIANAPOLIS: With their 27-10 victory over the Jaguars last Thursday night, the Colts have now won four straight and five of their last six games. They’ve also covered the spread in five straight games, including last week when they were a 3-point favorite in Jacksonville. As an underdog this season, they’re 4-2 against the spread. Overall, they’re 6-3 straight up and 6-3 against the number, while the under has covered in six of their first nine games. While the Texans appear to be a lock to win the AFC South, the Colts would own the first wild card spot in the conference if the playoffs were to start today. Rookie Andrew Luck has been fantastic in his first season, as he’s thrown for 2,631 yards and even leads the team with 5 rushing touchdowns.
NEW ENGLAND: The Patriots have now won three in a row and five of their last six after beating the Bills 37-31 last Sunday. That said, they have now failed to cover the spread in three of their last four games, which includes last weekend when they were a 13.5-point favorite versus Buffalo. The Patriots are now 6-3 overall and are in sole possession of first place in the AFC East. With Miami, New York and Buffalo all struggling, New England is once again likely to run away with the division this season. Thanks to a balanced offense that features Tom Brady and Wes Welker, the over has covered in seven of the Patriots’ first nine games this season.
ODDS: Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv have installed the Patriots as 9.5-point favorites versus the Colts, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 53 points. Indianapolis is 6-3 overall and 2-2 on the road, while New England is 6-3 overall and 3-1 at home.
TRENDS: The Colts are 4-0 against the spread in their last four meetings in New England and 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight games versus the Patriots overall. The underdog is also 13-3-2 against the spread in the last 18 meetings overall and the road team is 3-0-1 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
