TAMPA BAY: The Bucs lost for the first time in five weeks last Sunday when they fell to the Falcons, 24-23. Josh Freeman completed 19-of-30 passes for 256 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions, while Doug Martin rushed 21 times for 50 yards and two scores. Vincent Jackson caught five passes for 96 yards, while Tiquan Underwood caught five passes for 77 yards. It was the first time Tampa Bay failed to cover the spread in their last five weeks, although they did push as a 1-point home underdog. The Bucs are now 6-5 overall and 8-2-1 against the spread in 2012.
DENVER: The Broncos won their sixth straight game last Sunday when they beat the Chiefs 17-9 in Kansas City. Peyton Manning completed 22-of-37 passes for 285 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, while Knowshon Moreno rushed 20 times for 85 yards while filling in for the injured Willis McGahee. Demariyus Thomas also caught four passes for a team-high 82 yards with one touchdown, while Eric Decker hauled in four passes for 64 yards. The win improved Denver’s record to 8-3 overall and 6-5 against the spread, although the Broncos have now failed to cover in back-to-back games. With the AFC West all but wrapped up, Denver will now concentrate on improving its standing in the conference.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Broncos are 8-point favorites versus the Bucs, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 50.5 points. Tampa Bay is 6-5 overall and 3-2 on the road, while Denver is 8-3 overall and 4-1 at home.
TRENDS: The Buccaneers are 2-0-2 against the spread in their last four games versus the Broncos, who are 4-0 ATS in their last four games in Week 13. Denver is also 2-5 ATS in its last seven games in December and 16-34-2 ATS in its last 52 home games. The Bucs are also 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 road games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games in December.
