JACKSONVILLE: The Jaguars finally snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 24-19 win over the Titans last Sunday in Jacksonville. It was also the first time that the Jaguars won a game this season as they covered as a 3.5-point underdog. Chad Henne completed 17-of-26 passes for 261 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, while Cecil Shorts caught four passes for 105 yards with one touchdown and Justin Blackmon added five catches for 62 yards and a score. The win improved the Jaguars’ record to 2-9 and they’re now 6-5 against the spread this season. With their playoff hopes dashed, the Jaguars will evaluate the play of Henne over these last five weeks to determine whether or not he could be their starting quarterback in 2013.
BUFFALO: The Bills lost for the fourth time in five weeks last Sunday when they dropped a 20-13 decision to the Colts in Indianapolis. Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 17-of-33 passes for 180 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while running back C.J. Spiller rushed 14 times for 107 yards. Steve Johnson also caught six passes for 106 yards but Buffalo’s offense could only muster 13 points. The loss dropped the Bills’ record to 4-7 on the year and 5-6 against the spread. They’re mathematically still in the playoff hunt but they’re two games behind the Colts in the wild card hunt, whom they just lost to.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Bills are 5.5-point favorites versus the Jaguars, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 45 points. Jacksonville is 2-9 overall and 1-4 on the road, while Buffalo is 4-7 overall and 2-2 at home.
TRENDS: The road team is 6-2 against the spread in the last eight meetings between these two teams, while the underdog is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings. The Jaguars are 4-1 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games following a straight up win. The Bills are 1-4 ATS in their last five games in December and 0-4 ATS in their last four games in Week 13.
