SEATTLE: The Seahawks were rolling along until last week, when they fell to the Dolphins 24-21 in Miami. Prior to that game Seattle had won back-to-back games versus the Vikings (30-20) and Jets (28-7), respectively. They also covered in both games, but they failed to hit as a 3-point road favorite last weekend versus what had been a struggling Miami team. The loss dropped Seattle to 6-5 on the year and 7-4 against the spread, while the over covered in three of the Hawks’ last four games. Worse yet, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported following the game that starting cornerbacks Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman are subjected to a four-game suspension after they were allegedly busted for breaking the NFL’s rule on performance-enhancing substances. That said, Schefter reported on Tuesday that both players will be available this Sunday versus the Bears.
CHICAGO: Following back-to-back losses the Bears got back into the win column last weekend with a 28-10 victory over the Vikings. Quarterback Jay Cutler completed 23-of-31 passes for 188 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while Brandon Marshall caught a team-high 12 passes for 92 yards. Matt Forte (14 carries, 42 yards) left the game early because of an ankle injury, although CBS’ Jason La Canfora says that the injury does not appear to be severe enough to threaten the running back long-term. The win over Minnesota bumps Chicago’s record to 8-3 and with the Packers losing to the Giants on Sunday Night Football, the Bears now one sole possession of first place in the NFC North again. After covering as a 6.5-point favorite, Chicago is also 6-5 against the spread this season.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Bears are 4-point favorites versus the Vikings, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 37.5 points. Minnesota is 6-5 overall and 1-5 on the road, while Chicago is 8-3 overall and 5-1 at home.
TRENDS: The over is 5-0 in the last five meetings between these two teams in Chicago and 7-0 in the last seven meetings overall. The Seahawks are also 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games following an ATS loss and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games versus the NFC.
