Colts vs. Chiefs Week 16 Odds
KANSAS CITY, MO (The Spread) – Two teams headed in opposite directions will play in Kansas City on Sunday when the Chiefs host the Colts at 1:00PM ET.
INDIANAPOLIS: The Colts had their three-game winning streak snapped last Sunday when they fell 29-17 to the Texans in Houston. Rookie quarterback Andrew Luck completed 13-of-27 passes for 186 yards with two touchdowns but it wasn’t enough to beat a Houston team looking to rebound from an ugly loss to New England on Sunday night. Vick Ballard led Indy in rushing with 105 yards on 18 carries, and T.Y. Hilton caught three passes for 78 yards and a touchdown. The loss dropped the Colts to 9-5 overall and 9-5 against the spread as they failed to cover as a 10.5-point underdog. It was the first time in the past four weeks that the Colts didn’t cover the spread.
KANSAS CITY: The Chiefs remain one of the bigger disasters in the NFL this season, as they lost for the 12th time last Sunday in a 15-0 defeat to the Raiders. Brady Quinn completed 18-of-32 passes for just 136 yards and one interception, while Jamaal Charles was held to 10 yards on just nine carries. Dexter McCluster was the focal point of Kansas City’s offense but he was held to just 59 yards on seven catches, and Tony Moeaki was held to just 36 yards on three catches. The loss dropped the Chiefs to 2-12 overall and 5-9 against the spread as they failed to cover as a 4.5-point underdog. It was the third time in the last five games that KC failed to cover the number.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Colts are 7-point favorites versus the Chiefs while the over/under total is currently sitting at 41.5 points. Indianapolis is 9-5 on the year and 3-4 on the road, while Kansas City is 2-12 and 1-6 at home this season.
TRENDS: The Colts are 5-1 against the spread in their last six trips to Kansas City and 8-3 against the number in the last 11 games overall. The over is also 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams in Kansas City, 5-1 in the Colts’ last six games in Week 16 and 18-8 in their last 26 road games overall. That said, the under is 10-2 in the Chiefs’ last 12 games versus a team with a winning record and 4-1 in their last five games in December.
