Rams vs. Bucs Week 16 Odds
TAMPA, FL (The Spread) – Two teams that had their playoff hopes dashed last week will battle for pride on Sunday when the Buccaneers host the Rams at 1:00PM ET on Sunday.
ST. LOUIS: The Rams saw their playoff hopes crushed last week by Adrian Peterson and the Vikings, who beat St. Louis 36-22 in Week 15. Sam Bradford completed 35-of-55 passes for 377 yards with three touchdowns and one interception, while Steven Jackson rushed for 73 yards and eclipsed 10,000 rushing yards for his career. Brandon Gibson led the Rams’ receiving corps with six catches for 76 yards, while Jackson caught passes for 73 yards. Danny Amendola, Brian Quick and tight end Lance Kendricks caught the touchdown passes from Bradford. The loss dropped the Rams to 6-7-1 overall and 9-5 against the spread as they failed to cover the number for just the second time in their last six games. With the postseason now out of reach, the Rams will look to get back to .500 before they head up to Seattle for the season finale.
TAMPA BAY: As if things couldn’t get any worse for the Buccaneers in the midst of their three-game losing streak, they were blown out 41-0 by NFC South Division rival New Orleans in Week 16. Josh Freeman was an awful 26-of-47 for 279 yards with zero touchdowns and four interceptions, all of which came when Tampa Bay was inside the red zone. Doug Martin was held to just 16 yards on nine carries while Vincent Jackson caught six passes for 81 yards in the loss. It doesn’t seem all that long ago that the Bucs were considered a legit playoff contender but after losing four straight games, they’re now 6-8 and 9-4-1 against the spread. They haven’t cover the number in their last two games.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Bucs are 3-point favorites over the Rams while the over/under total is currently sitting at 44 points. St. Louis is 6-7-1 overall this season and 2-3 on the road, while Tampa Bay is 6-8 overall and 3-4 at home.
TRENDS: The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams while the Rams are 1-5-1 against the spread in their last seven games versus the Bucs. The underdog is also 5-1-1 against the spread in the last seven meetings between these two teams.
