NEW YORK: After taking a 14-3 lead, the Jets fell to the Chargers 27-17 in Week 16. Greg McElroy struggled in his first NFL start, completing just 14-of-24 passes for 185 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. Shonn Greene was also held in check as he rushed for just 38 yards on 14 carries, although he did score two touchdowns in the loss. No receiver caught more than four passes or totaled more than 65 yards through the air. The loss dropped the Jets to 6-9 overall and 7-8 against the spread as they failed to cover the 3-point spread. They’ve now failed to cover the number in each of their last two games and four of their last five.
BUFFALO: The Bills are now in the midst of a three-game losing streak after falling 24-10 to the Dolphins last Sunday in Miami. Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 20-of-35 passes for 240 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while C.J. Spiller rushed 22 times for 138 yards but was held out of the end zone. No Buffalo receiver caught more than four passes or totaled more than 54 yards as the Bills’ offense struggled to generate points. The loss dropped Buffalo’s record to 5-10 overall and 6-9 against the spread as the Bills have now failed to cover the spread in three-straight games. They’ve also failed to cover the number in four of their last five contests.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Bills are 3.5-point favorites versus the Jets, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 39 points. New York enters the week with a 6-9 record and is 3-4 on the road this season, while Buffalo is 5-10 overall and 3-4 at home.
TRENDS: The Jets are 4-0 against the spread in their last four trips to Buffalo and 5-1 ATS in their last six games versus the Bills overall. The over is also 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams but the under is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings in Buffalo. The underdog, meanwhile, is 10-4 against the number in the last 14 meetings and the road team is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings.
