ATLANTA, GA (The Spread) – The fifth week of the NFL season concludes on Monday night with the Atlanta Falcons hosting the New York Jets at 8:40PM ET on ESPN.
New York is 2-2 on the season, 0-2 on the road and 3-1 against the spread. Atlanta is 1-3 overall, 1-1 at home and 1-3 against the spread. The home team has won five of the last six in this series. The two have hit the under in five of their last six meetings as well.

The spread hasn’t moved much, as it jumped to 10 quickly and held from there. The over/under total opened at 44 points and fell to 43.5 and hit a peak of 44.5 before returning to its original mark of 44.
Atlanta fell to 1-3 on the season after a 30-23 loss to New England last week. All three of Atlanta’s losses have come against teams that were undefeated as of last Sunday. The Falcons have a strong passing attack, averaging 316.5 yards per game through the air, but they are posting just 82 rushing yards per game. Defensively, Atlanta is allowing 393.5 yards per game. Matt Ryan has thrown for 1,330 yards and eight touchdowns while Julio Jones has 33 receptions for 481 yards and two scores.
The Jets fell to 2-2 on the season last Sunday when it lost to Tennessee, 38-13. New York had been strong defensively in the first three games, but gave up the 38 points last week. The Jets are giving up just 283.1 yards per game on the defensive side, including 14 sacks, while the offense is producing 366.3 yards per game. Rookie quarterback Geno Smith has thrown for 1,090 yards and four touchdowns, but also has eight interceptions. Bilal Powell has been steady for New York, rushing for 292 yards and one score.
In terms of Injuries, New York cornerback Dee Milliner (hamstring) and receiver Santonio Holmes (hamstring) are both out for Monday’s game. Atlanta tackle Sam Baker (knee) is doubtful for the game while receiver Roddy White (ankle) is questionable.
