In the San Francisco 49ers opened as 3-point favorites versus the Atlanta Falcons but the line was immediately bet up to 4 and then 4.5 before dropping back down to 4. While some books in Vegas are still offering San Francisco at -3.5, oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv have kept the Niners as a 5-point favorite for much of the week. As for the total, Bovada.lv has the over/under listed at 49 after it opened at 48. Other books have it as high as 49.5.
The public perception is that the game will be high scoring and after these two teams combined for 75 points in the Divisional round, it might be. But according to latest betting trends, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings between the 49ers and Falcons, and is 6-1 in Atlanta’s last seven home games. Still, the over is 5-0 in the Niners’ last five games overall and 4-0 in the Falcons’ last four home playoff games.
In the AFC, the spread opened at 10 before dropping down to 9.5. Now, as we sit just two days away from the title game, the New England Patriots are 8.5 or 8-point favorites versus the Baltimore Ravens in Las Vegas. At Bovada.lv, the Pats remain a 10-point favorite and the over/under total is 51.5 after opening at 50.5. (In Vegas the total is sitting anywhere between 51 and 51.5 depending on the book.)
The underdog is 3-0-1 against the spread in the last four meetings between these two teams and the Ravens are 10-4 against the number in their last 14 road playoff games. The Patriots, meanwhile, are 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 playoff games and 2-7 ATS in their last nine home playoff games.
Kickoff for the NFC championship game is set for 3:00PM ET while the AFC title match will go off at 6:30PM ET.
