PHILADELPHIA, PA (The Spread) – The third week of the NFL season gets started on Thursday night when the Philadelphia Eagles host the Kansas City Chiefs at 8:25PM ET.
Kansas City is 2-0 on the season, 1-0 on the road and 1-1 against the spread. Philadelphia is 1-1 overall, 0-1 at home and 1-1 against the spread. Philadelphia has won three straight over the Chiefs.
Trends show that the Chiefs are 0-4 against the spread in their last 4 against the Eagles and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games on grass. The Eagles are 9-3 against the spread in their last 12 Week-3 games.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Philadelphia is the favorite at home, as the Eagles have odds of -3 points against the Chiefs. The over/under total for tonight’s game has been set at 50.5 points (View Matchup). The opening odds for this game had the Eagles favored by 3 as well. The spread hit a peak of 3.5 points before falling back to Philadelphia -3. The over/under total opened at 49.5 points and quickly made the jump to 50.5, where it held from there.
The Eagles are off to a 1-1 start and moving the ball quite nicely. Philadelphia is averaging 31.5 points and 477 yards per game this season, but the defense is not doing much to stop opponents. Philly is giving up 30 points and 460.5 yards per game on that side of the ball. Quarterback Michael Vick has thrown for 631 yards and four touchdowns this year while running back LeSean McCoy has 237 rushing yards and 119 receiving yards.
Kansas City improved to 2-0 last week with a 17-16 win at home over Dallas. The Chiefs have been very impressive on defense this season, holding opponents to only 9 points and 248 yards per game. The defense is being led by Justin Houston and Dontari Poe, who have combined for 6.5 sacks through two games. Offensively, Kansas City could be better, but it is still working out the kinks of Andy Reid’s new offense. The unit is averaging 22.5 points and 302.5 yards per game. Alex Smith has thrown for 396 yards and four touchdowns in the two wins.
In terms of Injuries, tight end Anthony Fasano (ankle) and cornerback Brandon Flowers (knee) are both questionable for the game. Philadelphia cornerback Bradley Fletcher (concussion) and tackle Dennis Kelly (back) are both questionable as well.
The Public Bets for this game are currently backing Philadelphia, as the Eagles are getting 55% of the wagers with odds of -3 points against the Chiefs.
