INDIANAPOLIS, IN (The Spread) – Two of the best offenses in the league meet up tonight when the Indianapolis Colts host the New England Patriots at 8:30PM ET on NBC.

The Colts are 6-3 on the season, 3-1 at home and 7-2 against the spread. New England is 7-2 overall, 2-2 on the road and 5-4 against the spread. The Patriots have won four straight meetings with the Colts, but all four games were at home.

Trends show that the Patriots are 8-3-1 against the spread in their last 12 meetings in Indianapolis. The underdog has covered the spread in 13 of the last 20 in this series and the two have hit the over in 5 straight meetings.

According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Indianapolis is favored at home, as the Colts are getting odds of -3 points against the Patriots. The over/under total for the game has been set at 57.5 points (View Matchup). The opening odds for this game had the Colts favored by 2.5 points. The spread then eventually worked up to 3 points. The over/under total opened at 56.5 points but jumped right up to 57.5 and held there.

Indianapolis is fresh off a bye. The Colts had won six of their last seven before the bye and come into this game with the nation’s top passing attack, averaging 337.4 yards per game through the air. On the other side, Indy ranks 27th in passing defense, allowing 263.6 yards per game. Andrew Luck has thrown for 3,085 yards and 26 touchdowns to lead the team while T.Y. Hilton has caught 56 passes for 937 yards and three scores. The defense is being led by Bjoern Werner, who has 25 tackles and four sacks.

New England is also coming off a bye last week. The Patriots have won five straight entering this game, with four of the five wins coming by at least 15 points. The team is now averaging 367 yards per game on offense, while the defense is allowing 355.1 yards per contest. Tom Brady has thrown for 2,392 yards and 22 touchdowns this season to lead the team while Rob Gronkowski has caught 49 passes for 663 yards and eight touchdowns. The defense is led by Don’t’a Hightower, who has 49 tackles with 3.5 sacks.
