DETROIT, MI (The Spread) – The Detroit Lions are looking for an improbable 4-1 start on Sunday when they host the Buffalo Bills at 1PM ET on FOX.

Detroit is 3-1 on the season, 2-0 at home and 3-1 against the spread. Buffalo is 2-2 overall, 1-1 on the road and 2-2 against the spread. The Lions have went under the point total in three of four games while the Bills have hit the under in all four games this year. Buffalo has won three of its last four against Detroit.

The spread climbed to a high of 9 before settling in at 7.5 points. The over/under total opened at 44.5 points before dipping down to 43.5. The total then bumped back up to 44.

Detroit is coming off a 24-17 win over the Jets on the road last week. The Lions have one of the top-rated defenses in the league, ranking sixth in rushing defense (80.8 ypg) and second in passing defense (186.5 ypg). The offense is moving along as well, ranking seventh in passing yards (276 ypg). Matthew Stafford has thrown for 1,176 yards and five touchdowns to lead the offense while Calvin Johnson has 21 receptions for 341 yards and two touchdowns. The Detroit defense is being led by DeAndre Levy, who has 38 tackles with six tackles for loss.

Buffalo is coming off a 23-17 loss at Houston last week. The Bills have now lost two straight since a 2-0 start. The Bills are holding opponents to just 71.5 rushing yards per game, which ranks third in the NFL, but Buffalo is giving up 266.3 passing yards per game, which ranks 25th in the NFL. Offensively, the Bills are struggling, posing just 320 yards per game. E.J. Manuel has thrown for 838 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions, but coaches have benched him this week for Kyle Orton, who will make the start on Sunday. C.J. Spiller has rushed for 207 yards to lead the offense while Preston Brown is leading the defense with 40 tackles.

In terms of Injuries, Detroit running back Joique Bell (concussion) and tight end Joseph Fauria (ankle) are both questionable. Buffalo receiver Marquise Goodwin (concussion) and guard Chris Williams (back) are also questionable.
