2014 NFL Week 3 Redskins vs. Eagles Picks & Predictions

Redskins vs. Eagles Free Pick

PHILADELPHIA, PA (The Spread) – The Philadelphia Eagles host the Washington Redskins Sunday at 1:00PM ET to be aired on FOX. The Eagles are 2-0 to start the season, but are they the right play for bettors this week?

Get Jay Dotson’s Expert Picks

The Eagles have opened up the season 2-0 ATS while the Redskins are 1-1 ATS. Quarterback Kirk Cousins will be starting in place of injured Robert Griffin III this week and that could be a good thing for bettors backing Washington as the Redskins are 4-1 ATS in games that Cousins has gotten the majority of action behind center.

This game has a little extra spice as this will be wide receiver DeSean Jackson’s first return to Philly since becoming a Redskin.  Washington has been money for bettors in Philly as they have covered in five of their last seven trips on the Eagles home field and I expect the Redskins to cover in this one as well.

The Eagles are coming off a short week as they stole a win from the Colts on Monday Night Football.  The Redskins are coming in with some momentum off a huge win over the Jaguars even though RG3 is out.  Cousins is one of the best backup quarterbacks you will find in the NFL and although the Redskins will play a more traditional offense with Cousins he has proven he helps this team cover the spread if nothing else.

The public is more or less split on this game with the line moving from 6.5 to now 6.  Public money is often times a piece of the puzzle when digging out winners, but it isn’t the only factor and in this game just doesn’t factor in all that much.  The NFC East is a tough division to peg as no team has proven to be very consistent, but I see catching almost a touchdown in a division game as a gift.

The Redskins will have to come to play both halves in this game as we have seen the Eagles come from behind both times out this season.  Take the Redskins plus the points on Sunday.
