Steelers vs. Patriots Odds
The 2015-16 NFL Season officially gets started tonight when the New England Patriots host the Pittsburgh Steelers at 8:30PM ET on NBC.
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, the Patriots are favored at home in this game, as they are getting odds of -7 points against the Steelers tonight. The over/under total has been set at 52 points. The Patriots are 5-2 against the spread in their last 7 against the Steelers and these two have hit the over in 8 of their last 10 meetings.
The Patriots were 12-4 last season and then went on to win the Super Bowl over the Seahawks. New England was 11-8 against the spread last year while going 11-7-1 with the over. Bill Belichick is entering his 16th season with New England and has 175-65 record in his time with the Patriots. New England had a pretty sour offseason after winning a Super Bowl as “Deflategate” took over the NFL news. Tom Brady was originally to be suspended for four games this season but that ruling was overturned and he will start the opener tonight. Still, New England will be without LeGarrette Blount in the backfield, as he is serving a one game suspension. Brady is coming off a 4,109-yard season with 33 touchdowns and nine interceptions and he still has arguably the best tight end in the league in Rob Gronkowski, who caught 82 passes for 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.
The Steelers were 11-5 last season, winning the AFC North. The Steelers were 9-8 against the spread while going 9-7-1 with the over. Mike Tomlin is in his ninth season as coach of the Steelers. He is 82-46 to this point with the team, including one Super Bowl championship. Pittsburgh also comes into this game with some big suspensions as running back Le’Veon Bell will miss the first two games while receiver Martavis Bryant is out for the first four games. Bell had a breakout second season with Pittsburgh last year, rushing for 1,361 yards and eight scores while catching 83 passes for 854 yards and three scores. Still, Ben Roethlisberger is coming off a near 5,000-yard season and he still has Antonio Brown to throw to. Brown caught 129 passes last year with 1,698 yards and 13 touchdowns.
