Saints vs. Cardinals Odds
The Arizona Cardinals hope their defense can slow down the New Orleans Saints’ offense when the two meet this Sunday at 4:05PM ET on FOX.
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, the Cardinals are a slight favorite at home, as Arizona is getting odds of -2.5 points against the Saints. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 48.5 points. The home team has covered the spread in five straight meetings between these two and they have hit the over in 4 of their last 5 encounters.
The Cardinals were 11-5 last season and earned a Wild Card playoff spot. The Cardinals were 11-6 against the spread while going 10-6-1 with the under last season. Bruce Arians enters his third season as coach of the Cardinals. He is 21-11 in his first two season. Last year, Arizona ranked fifth in scoring defense, allowing just 18.7 points per game. The offense was doing well early, but numerous injuries at the quarterback position kept Arizona from competing in the playoffs. Carson Palmer is back this year after ending last season with a knee injury. He threw for 1,626 yards and 11 touchdowns before getting hurt.
The Saints were 7-9 last season and finished ½ a game out of first in the NFC South. New Orleans was just 6-10 against the spread last year while going 10-6 with the over. Sean Payton is coming into his ninth season with the Saints. He is 80-48 in his previous eight years as coach. The Saints have always had a strong offense with Drew Brees and last year was no different. Brees threw for 4,952 yards and 33 touchdowns in 2014, but had 17 interceptions, a number he must cut down on this year. Brees lost his top target in Jimmy Graham, as the team traded the All-Pro tight end to Seattle. Still, Brees has a number of weapons to work with.
