NFL Week 3 Line Movement

What games have seen the biggest line movement over the past 24 hours? Here’s a quick-hit look at where the point spread is moving in Week 3 of the NFL.

Saints at Panthers, 1:00PM ET

Out of any game on the Week 3 schedule, this line has moved the most over the last few days. The reason is obvious: Drew Brees has been ruled out for today’s game due to a shoulder injury, making the Saints a 9.5-point road underdog versus the Panthers after opening as a 3-point dog. The total has also dropped two points, going from 45 down to 43.

Chargers at Vikings, 1:00PM ET

The Vikings opened as a 3-point home favorite versus the Chargers but are now just 1-point faves according to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag. Our NFL public betting chart shows that 54% of public wagers on San Diego right now, suggesting that both public and sharp money has pushed the line down.

Steelers at Rams, 1:00PM ET

This line has jumped the fence so many times over the past 48 hours that it’s hard to keep track. Let’s start here: the Rams opened as a surprising 1-point home favorite after getting thumped on the road last week by Washington. But Pittsburgh money pushed the line in favor of the Steelers, who became 1-point favorites heading into Friday. On Saturday, the line jumped back in favor of the Rams at -1, but now the Steelers are back to being a 1-point fave so who knows where the line will be at kickoff. The most logical reason for the movement is that the public keeps hammering the Steelers, while the sharps are pulling the number back in favor of the Rams. With 80% of public money on Pittsburgh, it makes no sense that the Steelers would only be favored by 1, unless the big money keeps coming in on St. Louis.

Falcons at Cowboys/Eagles at Jets, 1:00PM ET

We’ll lump these two games together seeing as how they had similar line movements. Both games opened as a pick’em, but now the Falcons are 1-point favorites in Dallas versus Brandon Weeden, while the Eagles are 1-point underdogs versus the Jets. If you like Atlanta, now is the time to jump because the line is unlikely to get much better than what it is now.
