Biggest Super Bowl Risers & Fallers
Which teams’ Super Bowl odds climbed and fell following Sunday’s action in the NFL? Let’s take a look.
Biggest Risers:
The Giants are two fourth quarter meltdowns from being 3-0 instead of 1-2 and following their first win of the season, oddsmakers have adjusted. According to oddsmakers from Mybookie.ag, the Giants are now 40/1 to win the Super Bowl after being 100/1 before their victory over Washington on Thursday night.
Following back-to-back wins over the Ravens and Browns, the Raiders’ Super Bowl odds are also on the rise. They’re now 40/1 after being listed at 100/1 last week. The Cardinals also went from 20/1 to 12/1, whiel the Bengals went from 20/1 to 15/1 now that they’re 3-0 to start the season.
Biggest Fallers:
Following the injury to quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers are now 35/1 long shots to win the 2016 Super Bowl after being listed at 20/1. Despite being 2-1 following its win over St. Louis in Week 3, Pittsburgh will be without Big Ben for the next 4-6 weeks due to a MCL sprain.
The other big fallers were easy to see. The Bears (250/1 to 1000/1), Saints (100/1 to 250/1), Ravens (40/1 to 75/1), and Lions (100/1 to 200/1) all dropped to 0-3. The last team to make the playoffs after starting 0-3 was the 1998 Buffalo Bills, so you could see the adjustment being made by oddsmakers on the teams that are still winless.
The Rams and Chargers were also big fallers, as St. Louis went from 50/1 down to 150/1 and the Chargers went from 30/1 down to 85/1 after losing in Week 3. St. Louis has a great defense but its offense is punchless, with Week 1 being the lone aberration (34 points vs. Seattle at home). Miami also fell from 30/1 to 65/1 after being shacklled by Buffalo at home, while Dallas went from 25/1 to 40/1 after dropping its first game at home to Atlanta without Tony Romo.
Biggest Surprise: Atlanta Falcons
Despite putting together an impressive comeback to beat the Dallas Cowboys and reach 3-0 on the season, the Falcons’ odds to win the Super Bowl remain unchanged at 25/1. The Cowboys once led in the game 14-0, then 28-17 at halftime before the Falcons shut them out in the second half and outscored Dallas 22-0 in the final two quarters. Perhaps oddsmakers believed Atlanta should have beaten the Brandon Weeden-led Cowboys by more than double-digits on the road.
