NFL Rushing Leader Prop Pick
Adrian Peterson is the favorite to lead the NFL in rushing this upcoming season but is he a slam-dunk to cash in for bettors?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Peterson is a 3/1 favorite to win the league’s rushing title this season. Todd Gurley has the next-best odds at 5/1, while Doug Marin is 10/1 and both Lamar Miller and rookie Ezekiel Elliott are 12/1, respectively. Thomas Rawls, meanwhile, is 14/1.
Continuing with the odds, Jamaal Charles, LeSean McCoy, David Johnson and Carlos Hyde are all 16/1, respectively, to lead the NFL in rushing this season, while Eddie Lacy is 20/1. Some of the other mid-range long-shots are Mark INgram and C.J. Anderson at 28/1, respectively, and Devonta Freeman, Jonathan Stewart, Le’Veon Bell, Matt Jones and DeMarco Murray are 33/1.
The long-shots include Jeremy Hill, Latavius Murray and Matt Forte at 40/1, respectively, as well as Frank Gore, Ryan Mathews, Jay Ajayi, Melvin Gordon and Justin Forsett at 50/1, respectively.
OUR PICK: Peterson is favored, and with good reason. Gurley will get plenty of opportunities in the Rams’ run-heavy offense regardless of if rookie Jared Goof or veteran Case Keenum wind up starting under center. But his offensive line isn’t as good as Peterson’s and the Vikings have more weapons to force defenses to solely focus on Minnesota’s running game. Gurley will come close, but even at 3/1 odds Peterson still has value.
