2022 Super Bowl Futures Odds

Despite the Buccaneers’ routing the Chiefs in Super Bowl 55, it’s Kansas City that has opened as the betting favorite to win the 2022 Super Bowl.

The Favorite: Kansas City Chiefs 6/1

The Bucs drubbed the Chiefs 31-9 in the Super Bowl but when you have Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, you’re going to be viewed as the favorites more times than not. At 6/1, the Chiefs are a pretty good value to win the 2022 Super Bowl because of the aforementioned pieces. Of course, they might have to get past a familiar foe in order to win their second title in three years because…

The Challenger: Tampa Bay Bucs 7/1

…Tom Brady is set to return to Tampa for at least another season. He signed a two-year deal with the Bucs last March and as of this writing, does not appear to be considering retirement. In fact, he looks like he could play another three seasons despite wrapping up his age-43 season. With Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and a defense that absolutely stymied Mahomes and Co. in the Super Bowl all returning, the Bucs should be favored to win the NFC again in 2020.

The Rest of the Top 5: Bills (10/1), Rams (12/1), Packers (12/1), Ravens (12/1)

Technically it’s the top 6, with the Rams, Packers and Ravens all possessing 12/1 odds, respectively, to win the 2022 Super Bowl. The Rams swung a huge trade for Matthew Stafford of the Lions, so their offense could be even more deadly without the inconsistent Jared Goff (now in Detroit) steering the ship. The Packers were the No. 1 seed in the NFL this past season and will return MVP Aaron Rodgers, while the Ravens will bring back Lamar Jackson, who won his first playoff game this past season. All are intriguing options, albeit with their own warts.

Rest of the Top 10: Saints (15/1), 49ers (20/1), Seahawks (20/1) Colts (25/1), Dolphins (25/1), Steelers (25/1)

Again, technically that makes 12 teams because of the Colts, Dolphins and Steelers all being 25/1, respectively, to win the 2020 Super Bowl. The further you get down this futures list, the more warts that start to emerge. Drew Brees is expected to retire this offseason, leaving the Saints with major quarterback questions to go along with a horrific salary cap situation, while the 49ers could be an intriguing long shot depending on if they can get key pieces back healthy next year. The Seahawks seem to be treading water now under Pete Carrol, although they’re always dangers with Russell Wilson under center. The Steelers were the team to beat in the AFC until a late-season collapse fueled their blowout home loss to the Browns in the Wild Card round, while the Dolphins and Colts are up-and-comers with talent, but questions at quarterback.

Mid-Range Long Shots

The Browns, Cowboys and Titans are all 28/1, respectively, to win next year’s Super Bowl, followed by the Chargers, Vikings and Patriots, who are all 33/1, respectively. The Cardinals and Bears are both 40/1, respectively, while the Raiders, Eagles and Broncos are all 50/1, respectively.

The Long Shots

The Falcons, Panthers, Giants, Texas and Washington all kick off our “long shot” section at 66/1, respectively, to win the Super Bowl, followed by the Bengals and Jets at 100/1, respectively. The two teams with the longest odds to win next year’s NFL title are the Lions and Jaguars, who are both 150/1, respectively.
