AP, Vikes 6/1 to win NFC North Division
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (The Spread) – Will the Vikings compete for the NFC North Division title in 2015?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Vikings are currently 6/1 to win the NFC North this season. While those odds don’t make them the favorite (the Packers are currently 1/3 favorites to win the division, but they’re also 3/1 favorites to win the Super Bowl as well), they have the same odds as the Lions and have better odds than the Bears (12/1).
On Saturday Adrian Peterson showed up to the Vikings’ training camp at Minnesota State University to the chants of “AP! AP!” According to Ben Goessling of ESPN.com, one fan even held up a sign that red, “Welcome home AP; real Vikings fans still love you.”
Peterson missed all but one game (a Week 1 victory over the Rams in St. Louis) of the 2014 season after he was indicated in Texas on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child. He was deactivated from Minnesota’s Week 2 game against the Patriots and then eventually placed on the NFL’s Exempt/Commissioner’s Permission list. Set to return in Week 1, the NFL announced that Peterson would be suspended for at least the remainder of the 2014 season with no pay.
With that behind him and the Vikings, Peterson and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater have some believing that Minnesota could be a sleeper this season.
