Bengals vs. Steelers Free Pick
PITTSBURGH, PA (theSpread) – One week after earning sole possession of first place in the AFC North with a win over the Ravens, the Pittsburgh Steelers look to avoid a letdown when they host the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Continue reading for picks, odds and more on this NFL Week 14 matchup.
According to NFL Week 14 odds and oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, the Steelers are 9-point favorites over the Bengals on Sunday. The over/under total for this game is currently 39.5 points.
The Bengals fell to 2-10 with their narrow loss to the Bengals last weekend. They did cover, however, and are now 4-8 against the spread according to latest NFL trends. They’re 1-5 on the road this season and have failed to cover in four of their six games.
The Steelers improved to 9-3 on the year with a win over the Ravens in Baltimore last Sunday night and are now 7-5 against the number. They’re 3-2 at home this year and have covered in three of their five games at Heinz Field.
NFL Week 14 Pick:
It’s always dangerous to take a team late in the year that has nothing to play for, but the Bengals showed last week that they still have a little pride. They’re not going to move the ball offensively on the Steelers’ defense as they did on New Orleans, but as long as Carson Palmer doesn’t turn the ball over, Pittsburgh’s secondary can be had. Nine points is a lot to be giving in a divisional game and we think oddsmakers are playing off the Steelers’ last-minute win last week against the Ravens when it comes to public perception. But the fact remains that Ben Roethlisberger is playing on a broken foot and Pittsburgh can’t run the ball. The Bengals should be able to keep this one close, even though they’re playing on the road. Speaking of which, the road team is 13-4-1 against the spread in the last 18 meetings between these two teams. Our pick is the Bengals +9.
