AFC South dark horse, the Jaguars, favored at home vs. Chargers

Jags pushing for division run

Don’t look now, but the Jacksonville Jaguars are actually in the playoff hunt. Can they improve their chances when they host the San Diego Chargers today?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Jaguars are favored at home in this game, as they are getting odds of -4.5 points against the Chargers. The over/under total for the game has been set at 46.5 points. These two meet up today at 1PM ET on CBS.

Not much could have been expected from Jacksonville after a 1-5 start to the season, but they have won three of their last four to find themselves at 4-6 on the season and just one game out of first in the AFC South. Oddsmakers currently have listed the Jaguars with 4/1 odds to win the AFC South as the division is certainly up for grabs with the Texans still unproven and the Colts struggling to keep Andrew Luck healthy.

When it comes to Sunday’s game, the Jaguars don’t have tremendous offensive numbers, averaging just 21.1 points and 340.1 yards per game, but they face a San Diego defense that is giving up 28.2 points per game. That is the reason the Chargers are 2-8 on the year despite having the third-best passing attack in the league. The door will be open for Blake Bortles to have a big game at home. He has thrown for 2,623 yards and 20 touchdowns this season. Bortles has thrown a TD pass in every game this season.
