Ravens 2012-13 NFL Season Odds
BALTIMORE, MD (The Spread) – The Baltimore Ravens were a missed field goal away from competing against the Giants in the Super Bowl last year. How many wins will the Ravens rack up this season?
According to oddsmakers, the Ravens are 18/1 to win the 2013 Super Bowl and 7/1 to win the 2013 AFC Championship. They’re also +150 to win the AFC North Division and have an over/under of 10 games for number of wins in the regular season.
The Ravens’ biggest loss this offseason was guard Ben Grubbs, who signed the New Orleans Saints. Baltimore also lost defensive end Cory Redding to the Colts and linebacker Jarret Johnson to the Chargers. The Ravens were able to re-sign cornerback Lardarius Webb, however.
The Ravens didn’t wind up having a first-round pick this year, but they did draft two second-rounders. With the third overall pick in the second round, Baltimore took Alabama linebacker Courtney Upshaw and with the 28th overall pick in that round, they took Iowa State guard Kelechi Osemele. In the third, the Ravens took Temple running back Bernard Pierce.
The Ravens have been knocking on the door of a Super Bowl appearance for the past two years. They’re built to win in the playoffs; the question now becomes whether or not Joe Flacco can put this team on his back and win deep in the postseason. The Ravens were able to re-sign Ray Rice to a new contract and he’ll once again be the focal point of the offense. But unless Flacco can become an elite quarterback, Baltimore may wind up falling short again this season. The talent is certainly there to win over 10 games and making a Super Bowl run. We’ll see if Flacco can take that next step.
