Denver Broncos DFS Spin
ESPN’s Jeff Legwold writes that when Russell Wilson “really needs a completion or is moved off his spot” he’s going to look for Courtland Sutton. One of the biggest questions in fantasy football this year has been who will be the No. 1 target in Denver’s offense: Courtland Sutton or Jerry Jeudy? Jeudy and Sutton tend to go off the board right in the same range. So even though this isn’t necessarily a major scoop about usage or something like that, it is interesting to hear that Sutton appears to be Wilson’s go-to receiver target in practice. It’s probably worth tilting the scale towards Sutton for now.
Buffalo Bills DFS Spin
The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia reports that the “Bills’ running back corps has all the potential to devolve into a muddy three-person committee.” Buscaglia believes that although NFL fans may have written off Zack Moss, the Bills very much have not. “Moss was the first runner to take a snap against the Colts and also the first to leave the game. In those snaps, he showed explosiveness and cutting ability that was missing last season because of a lingering ankle injury suffered in the 2020 postseason. It helped prove that what the Bills have seen in practice hasn’t been a fluke and that the injury hampered him quite a bit in 2021. Now completely healthy, Moss could become an early-down threat to Singletary and the team’s top goal-line back if his strong summer continues.” Moss’ emergence is a major concern for Devin Singletary who captured the entire Bills backfield, literally, by the end of the season. The silver lining is that the Bills’ 2022 second-round pick James Cook is coming along slowly in pass protection, which would limit his early season opportunities. Still, Cook will likely see his role grow over time, limiting Singletary’s receiving opportunities down the stretch. Singletary may have some early season value, but there’s a risk he’s mostly boxed out of high-value touches by the end of the season.

Broncos vs. Bills Prediction:
This is a lot of points to lay in a meaningless preseason game. Regular readers know I like to back teams with new coaching staffs in the preseason because those head coaches often feel like they have something to prove right away. The theory has worked well this year and there’s no reason to move away from it when it comes to this matchup. Nathaniel Hackett is the new front man in Denver and he’s being entrusted with a roster that many feel can challenge for a Super Bowl. He’ll want to put up a good showing today in Buffalo.
