Who We Like: Denver. Vance Joseph had to do something at quarterback for fear of a locker room split. The Bronco defense has been steady all season but Trevor Siemian has absolutely killed any chance of victory with his sloppy play in recent weeks. It’s not all on Siemian, who stood and watched as Jamaal Charles lost a fumble in the opening quarter on Monday night and had it go for a fumble six in the team’s loss to the Chiefs. But Siemian has been dreadful, including in Kansas City six nights ago where he tossed multiple interceptions.
Brock Osweiler, who was named the starter earlier this week, was horrendous last season for the Texans. But if he merely cuts down on the mistakes that plagued Siemian, the Broncos will look much different as a whole. It wouldn’t hurt if Mike McCoy would lean on the run instead of mind-bogglingly putting games in his ineffective quarterbacks’ hands. Either way, I think Osweiler is an upgrade over Siemian.
Here’s how I see this game playing. While the over has cashed in five straight meetings between these two teams, I actually like the under today. The game is going to be relatively low-scoring and I like the Broncos to stay within those seven points. I see a 20-17 game.
