Bucs vs. Panthers Week 16 Odds
CHARLOTTE, NC (The Spread) – NFC South rivals will clash in Carolina this weekend when the Panthers and Bucs meet on Saturday afternoon.
TAMPA BAY: Nobody in Tampa seems to have an answer for the Bucs’ losing ways. They dropped their eighth straight game last Sunday in a 31-15 defeat to the Cowboys and are now 4-10 on the year. They’ve failed to cover in their last four games and in seven of their last eight. Josh Freeman has thrown for 3,044 yards while LeGarrette Blount has 758 rushing yards and five touchdowns but the Bucs’ offense continues to lack punch.
CAROLINA: The Panthers pulled off one of the better upsets of Week 15, knocking off the Texans 28-13 as a 4.5-point underdog. Cam Newton threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns while DeAngelo Williams rushed for 61 yards and a 24-yard score. The victory was Carolina’s third in four games and the Panthers are now 5-9 on the year and 8-6 against the spread. If they can win their final two games, a 7-9 season will be viewed as a major win considering they had the No. 1 pick in last April’s draft.

ODDS: Oddsmakers have installed the Panthers as 9-point favorites over the Buccaneers for Saturday’s game, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 47.5 points. Tampa Bay enters the week with a 4-10 overall record and is 1-5 on the road this year while Carolina is 5-9 overall and 2-5 at home.
TRENDS: The favorite is 7-1 against the number in the last eight meetings between these two teams while the under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings in Carolina. The Bucs are just 3-7 against the number in their last 10 road games against the Panthers, who are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games versus the NFC South.
