Can the Falcons’ Julio Jones continue his strong season vs. the Panthers?

Can Panthers stop Julio?

Julio Jones of the Atlanta Falcons is the top receiver in the NFL. Will the unbeaten Carolina Panthers be able to slow him down today?

View NFL Odds

According to oddsmakers at MyBookie.ag, the Panthers are favored at home in this NFC South clash, as they are getting odds of -7.5 points against the Falcons. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 46 points. These two meet today at 1PM ET on FOX.

The Falcons (6-6, 4-8 ATS) are struggling right now, having lost five straight, but it hasn’t kept Jones from putting up big numbers. Jones leads the NFL in receptions (102), targets (159) and receiving yards (1,338). He also has six touchdown catches and is averaging 111.5 yards per game. Jones may struggle to maintain that pace today against the unbeaten Panthers (12-0, 9-3 ATS), as Carolina has one of the top defenses in the NFL and the Panthers rank sixth in pass defense, allowing just 227.2 yards per game. For today’s game, oddsmakers have listed Jones’ over/under for catches at 7 and his receiving yards at 92.5.

Against opposing receivers, the Panthers have allowed 1,765 yards and nine touchdowns this season. Despite that, they have had some games where they have allowed big yards. Last week the Panthers gave up 191 yards to New Orleans receivers and they also allowed 249 yards to Green Bay receivers in Week 9. Jones has had at least 5 receptions in all but one game this season and he has over 90 yards in six of his last seven games.
