49ers favored vs. Cardinals

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (The Spread) – The Arizona Cardinals still have a shot at the NFC West title and No. 1 seed in the playoffs, but to get it, they must beat the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at 4:25PM ET.

Arizona is coming off a 35-6 thrashing at the hands of Seattle last week to drop to 11-4 on the season. The Cardinals have clinched a playoff spot and can earn the NFC West title with a win on Sunday and a loss by Seattle at St. Louis. The Cardinals are 10-5 against the spread this season, but just 2-3 ATS in their last five.

San Francisco has been a mess the last month, as they have lost four straight, including a 38-35 OT loss to San Diego last Saturday in which the 49ers had a 28-7 lead in the game. San Francisco is now 8-7 on the season and this game is likely Jim Harbaugh’s last as head coach. San Francisco is 6-8-1 against the spread on the season, but just 0-4-1 ATS in its last five.

According to oddsmakers from BetDSI, San Francisco is the favorite in this game, as the 49ers are getting odds of -6 points against the Cardinals. The over/under total for the game has been set at 36.5 points (View Matchup). San Francisco has won four of its last five against Arizona, but the Cardinals own a 23-14 home win over the 49ers this season. These two have hit the over in three of their last four meetings.

Bet on NFL Week 17 Odds

These two met very early in the season when Arizona got the 23-14 win, but both teams are in very different places now. San Francisco doesn’t have much to play for, but could show a sense of pride in their home finale. Arizona has talent on defense, but has lost quarterbacks like flies because of injury. The Cardinals will start Ryan Lindley at quarterback this week. He is 22 of 54 passing on the season for 246 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.
