Panthers tender Williams and others
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – The Carolina Panthers have placed restricted free-agent tenders on 14 players, including running back DeAngelo Williams, defensive end Charles Johnson and quarterback Matt Moore.
The Panthers also restricted the free agency of cornerback Richard Marshall, linebacker James Anderson and tight ends Jeff King and Dante Rosario on Wednesday.
The moves came a day before the collective bargaining agreement is set to expire. It’s possible many of these tenders won’t be valid when a new labor deal is reached.
General manager Marty Hurney declined to reveal the type of tenders each player received.
It’s possible players such as Williams, Marshall and Anderson, each with five years of service, will be unrestricted free agents once there’s a new labor deal.
