The eighth week of the NFL season gets underway tonight when the New England Patriots host the Miami Dolphins at 8:25PM ET on CBS.
According to oddsmakers at MyBookie, New England is favored at home in tonight’s game, as the Patriots are getting odds of -8 points against the Dolphins. The over/under total for the game has been set at 50.5 points. The home team has won five straight in this series, covering the spread in all five victories as well.
New England is 6-0 on the season, 3-2-1 against the spread and 4-2 with the over. The Patriots are coming off a 30-23 win over the Jets at home last week. They have been hard to stop on offense, as they rank first in scoring at 35.5 points per game and second in total offense (410.8 ypg) and second in passing yards (327.2 ypg). Miami is 3-3 on the season, 3-3 against the spread and 4-2 with the over. The Dolphins are coming off a 44-26 win over the Texans at home. Miami has won both games under new interim coach Dan Campbell, by a combined score of 82-36. Miami is now averaging 24.5 points and 366 yards per game on offense while the defense is giving up 22.8 points and 369.8 yards per contest. Ryan Tannehill has thrown for 1,628 yards and 13 touchdowns to lead the offense while Lamar Miller is the leading rusher with 419 yards and two scores. The defense is led by Reshad Jones, who has 59 tackles with two interceptions.
