Chargers a road dog at KC
SAN DIEGO, CA (The Spread) – The San Diego Chargers are a win away from the playoffs, but that win will have to come on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs at 1PM ET.
San Diego is coming off a 38-35 overtime win over the 49ers on the road. The game saw the Chargers overcome a 28-7 deficit and snap a two-game losing streak in the process. The Chargers are now 9-6 on the season and can punch their playoff ticket with a win on Sunday. San Diego is 7-8 against the spread on the season, but just 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games.
The Chiefs are coming off a 20-12 loss at Pittsburgh last week. Kansas City has now lost four of its last five games to fall to 8-7 on the season. KC still has an outside chance at the playoffs, but needs a win and also a Baltimore loss and a Houston loss or tie on Sunday. The Chiefs are 9-6 against the spread this season, but also just 1-4 ATS in their last five. The Chiefs have hit the under in three of their last four games.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv Kansas City is the slight favorite in this game, as the Chiefs are getting odds of -2.5 points against the Chargers on Sunday. The over/under total for the game has been set at 42 points (View Matchup). San Diego has won four of its last five meetings with the Chiefs, but KC owns a 23-20 road win this season on Oct. 19. The two have hit the over in four of their last five meetings.
In the previous meeting this season, the Chiefs were able to dominate the game with their defense, as KC held San Diego to just 251 total yards. The Chiefs were steady on offense, as Alex Smith had 221 passing yards while Jamaal Charles rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. Kansas City has been solid on defense all year, especially against the pass, as it allowed just 200.2 yards per game through the air.
