Chargers vs. Saints Odds & Prediction
Something has to give in New Orleans on Friday night when the Saints host the Chargers at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Both teams are winless this preseason but it is New Orleans that is laying a field goal as a home favorite. With the total also sitting at 36.5, what’s the best bet when it comes to this preseason finale?

NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reports that Chargers WR Josh Palmer is in line for an expanded role with more targets. Schultz talked to a team source who told him: “He’s got the complete route-tree and he’s hyper-competitive attacking balls. Major worker: One of the best players in camp.” Palmer’s ADP has been spiking as it hits late draft season, and this is just more praise and more good news following a big preseason outing. Assuming he’s able to shake concussion protocol normally, he should be a source of fantasy production this year.

The Athletic’s Larry Holder writes that Michael Thomas’ hamstring injury “doesn’t sound serious.” Holder does allow that “the injury will have to be monitored.” There are a couple weeks before the regular season opener for Thomas to get right, and assuming the hamstring injury isn’t serious, we’d probably put him on the optimistic side of questionable. The fact that Thomas has a lengthy recent injury track history clouds the situation and makes the hamstring injury still feel slightly concerning.

Chargers at Saints Prediction:
These teams couldn’t have played more polar opposite preseasons from a scoring standpoint, as the Saints have done next to nothing offensively in exhibition play, while the Bolts haven’t played much defense. Given that this is the final preseason game for both teams and thus, a lot of backups figure to see time in the second half, I envision tonight turning into a sloppy, slow-paced, low-scoring game for much of the 60 minutes of play.
