Bears lead NFC North
The Bears didn’t go into the bye week at a great time as they were red hot, riding a three-game win streak to get to 3-1 on the season. Chicago is also 3-1 against the spread while going 2-2 with the over/under total.
Chicago has really turned it up on defense this year with the addition of Khalil Mack at linebacker. As a unit, Chicago is holding opponents to just 16.3 points and 321.8 yards per game. Their run defense is giving up only 64 yards per game. Mack alone has five sacks, an interception and four forced fumbles in four games. As a team, Chicago has 18 sacks with eight interceptions and eight forced fumbles. On Offense, Chicago is putting up 27.8 points and 357.8 yards per game. Mitchell Trubisky has thrown for 945 yards and eight touchdowns while Jordan Howard has 203 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Dolphins drop two straight
Miami started the year with three wins, but has since lost back-to-back road games to the Patriots and Bengals by double-digits each. The Dolphins are now 3-2 overall, 3-2 against the spread and 3-2 with the under.
Miami has been struggling on offense most of the season, averaging just 19.8 points and 307.8 yards per game. Their rushing attack averages just 96 yards per game. Ryan Tannehill has thrown for 972 yards with eight touchdowns and five interceptions to lead the unit. Frank Gore is the leading rusher with 202 yards on 47 carries. Defensively, Miami is giving up 23.4 points and 393.2 yards per game. Their pass defense is allowing 285 yards per game. They were without Cameron Wake last weekend because of a knee injury and he is questionable to play this Sunday as well. They do have 10 interceptions as a team this year, but only have eight sacks.
NFL Betting Trends
Chicago
The Bears have hit the under in six of their last seven road games and in eight of their last 10 overall.
Miami
Miami has hit the under in four straight against winning teams and in five of their last seven overall.
Prediction:
The Bears create a lot of havoc on defense and that has led to some opportunities for the Chicago offense. However, outside of the 48-point performance against Tampa, the Bears haven’t really been lighting up the scoreboard. I expect the Bears to continue to dominate on defense this week and keep Miami from scoring much, but don’t look for the Bears to go crazy either. Trubisky still hasn’t shown consistency as an NFL QB and the Chicago run game has been lacking as well.
NFL Prediction: Bears/Dolphins Under 41.5
