Chicago Bears Fantasy Spin
Mitchell Trubisky completed 16-of-27 passes for 120 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions while scrambling once for eight yards Sunday in Chicago’s Week 2 victory over the Broncos. Trubisky was well-protected by his line, not taking any sacks. The third-year signal-caller averaged a meager 4.4 yards per attempt, a predictable outcome playing on the road against a stout Denver secondary. He picked a great time to unleash his longest completion of the afternoon, finding Allen Robinson open for a 25-yard pick-up in the closing seconds, setting up the eventual game-winning kick by Eddie Pineiro. Fantasy owners were hoping Trubisky would take the next step forward after his breakout 2018, but that hasn’t been the case through two weeks. The Bears will take a 1-1 record into their Week 3 matchup at Washington. That will be the Monday night game.
Washington Redskins Fantasy Spin
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Jordan Reed’s (concussion) career is in doubt. Per Schefter, Reed is still trying to get cleared, “but the player, the team and doctors know what he is up against.” This is at least Reed’s seventh documented concussion. The 29-year-old has also fought through numerous other injuries. Sadly, it appears Reed’s decision on when to hang up his cleats will be made for him.
NFL Betting Trends
Chicago
The under is 6-0 in the Bears’ last six games versus conference opponents and 5-1 in their last six games played on Monday night.
Washington
The over is 4-1 in the Redskins’ last five home games and is 19-8 in their last 27 games when they allowed more than 250 passing yards in their previous contest.
Prediction
The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams and is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Washington but I don’t like anything about the over tonight. Trubisky looks like he has regressed from a year ago, or at the very least, looks like he’s the same sandlot quarterback he was in 2018. Surely Matt Nagy wants to expand his play book but he can’t unless Trubisky proves that he can handle more. The Bears defense, meanwhile, remains stout and the Redskins’ offensive line is a major issue. It’ll likely struggle again tonight against Chicago’s front seven and if it does, points could be at a premium.
NFL Week 3 Prediction: Bears/Redskins UNDER 41
