Chiefs favored by double digits
KANSAS CITY, MO (The Spread) – The Kansas City Chiefs are eager for a measure of payback this Sunday when they host the Oakland Raiders at 1PM ET on CBS.
Kansas City is coming off a 17-14 loss to the Cardinals on the road last week. The Chiefs have now fallen to 7-6 on the season thanks to a three-game losing streak that started with an embarrassing 24-20 loss to the Raiders on Nov. 20, giving Oakland its first win of the season. The Chiefs are now three games behind Denver in the AFC West. The Chiefs are 8-5 against the spread on the season, but are 0-3 ATS in their last three.
Oakland is coming off a surprising 24-13 win over the 49ers at home last week. The Raiders have won two of their last three games to move to 2-11 on the season, with both wins coming at home. Oakland is 7-6 against the spread this season, but the Raiders are 3-1 ATS in their last four. They haven’t been favored in their last 10 games.
Oddsmakers see the Chiefs as a heavy favorite on Sunday, as oddsmakers from Bovada.lv have given Kansas City odds of -10.5 points against the Raiders. The over/under total for the game has been set at 41.5 points (View Matchup). The Raiders won the first meeting this season, 24-20 and Oakland has won and covered the spread in four of its last six against Kansas City.
Kansas City is a team that relies on the run, as it posts 128.8 yards per game on the ground. It faces the 24th-ranked rushing defense in Oakland this season. The Raiders are giving up 127.9 yards per game on the ground. In the first meeting this season, Kansas City was only able to amass 96 rushing yards, while the Raiders had 179 on their end. Jamaal Charles had just 80 yards on 19 carries in the loss. He comes into Sunday’s game dealing with a minor knee injury that has him probable to play.
