KC favored by nearly a field goal now

The spread for tonight’s Steelers and Chiefs NFL Divisional round playoff matchup is now nearly a field goal at some online sports books.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Chiefs are 2.5-point home favorites versus the Steelers while the over/under currently sits at 44.5 points. Both the spread and total have moved off the original numbers posted by oddsmakers, as Kansas City opened as a 1-point home underdog before the line jumped the fence, and the over/under was posted at 46.5 before falling two full points.

The point spread for this game has been interesting to track. After the Chiefs intially opened as a 1-point home dog, the line was bet down to a pick’em for a brief moment early in the week. Then, Kansas City moved to -1 before the line was bet up to 1.5. From there, the spread moved incrementally from 1.5 to 2, to 2.5 and then to 3 before dropping. When it dropped, it dropped all the way back down to 1 before climbing back up.

With 56% of public bettors backing the Steelers, the line movement on game day indicates that sharp bettors are backing the Chiefs. There’s always a chance that wiseguys are driving up the price on Kansas City before coming back and taking Pittsburgh in attempts to “middle” the line, but for now it appears as though the sharp bettors are taking the Chiefs tonight.
