Pioli refuses interest in Manning
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Scott Pioli refused to say Friday whether the Chiefs have interest in Peyton Manning, though the general manager said discussions have taken place with free agent quarterback Kyle Orton.
Pioli spoke during the scouting combine in Indianapolis.

He said that Matt Cassel remains the Chiefs’ starting quarterback despite a difficult season that ended prematurely due to injury. Kansas City brought in Orton off waivers from Denver at midseason, and he led the Chiefs to a pair of wins over the final three games.
Pioli also said that All-Pro running back Jamaal Charles, Pro Bowl safety Eric Berry and tight end Tony Moeaki are recovering from knee injuries.
All three tore their left ACLs.
