Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Bengals are 1.5-point favorites to beat the Steelers. The total, meanwhile, sits at 50 points. As of this writing, 55% of the public betting tickets are on the Steelers to cover the point spread.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Ben Roethlisberger completed 19-of-29 passes for 250 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in the Steelers’ 41-17, Week 5 win over the Falcons. Roethlisberger was on track for a disappointing day before he finally got his Antonio Brown connection going in the second half. After entering the break 2-of-8 for eight yards and an interception targeting his No. 1 wideout, Ben found Brown six times for 93 yards and two scores over the final two quarters. The second was the highlight. Brown got a step on Robert Alford down the left sideline and Roethlisberger hit him in stride for a 47-yarder. Roethlisberger gets the Bengals on the road for Week 6.
Cincinnati Bengals
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport confirms John Ross (questionable, groin) is not expected to play Week 6 against the Steelers. Ross got in limited practice this week but it looks like he still needs more time to recover from his groin injury. Without him, the Bengals will employ Alex Erickson in three-wide sets against the Steelers. With Ross out and A.J. Green facing shadow coverage from Joe Haden, Tyler Boyd will be in a good spot this week.
NFL Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
The Steelers are 0-5 against the spread in their last five conference games and are 0-5 against the number in their last five divisional matchups as well.
Cincinnati
The Bengals are 6-1 against the spread in their last six home games and 8-0 against the number in their last eight conference matchups.
Prediction
The Bengals earned their 4-1 record to date but three of those four wins come came when they had to erase fourth-quarter deficits. I think that catches up to them here against a Steelers team that is feeling itself again after blasting the Falcons a week ago. Pittsburgh is 16-4-2 against the spread in its last 22 trips to Cincinnati and is 18-7-1 ATS in its last 26 games versus the Bengals overall.
NFL Week 6 Prediction: Pittsburgh Steelers +1.5
