Browns 2012-13 Season Odds
CLEVELAND, OH (The Spread) – The Cleveland Browns will likely have an entirely new backfield this year but despite they changes they’ve made to their roster, they remain long shots to compete in 2012.
Outside of signing defensive end Juqua Parker, formerly of the Philadelphia Eagles, the Browns were incredibly quiet in free agency. They also lost running back Peyton Hillis, who signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an unrestricted free agent on March 14. (At one point last year it looked as if the Browns would re-up with Hillis but they ultimately decided not to.)
But while the Browns were quiet in free agency, they made a ton of noise in the draft. They selected Alabama running back Trent Richardson with the third overall pick in the first round, and then took Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden with the 22nd overall selection. In the second round, they took Cal offensive tackle Mitchell Schwartz and in the third, they drafted Cincinnati defensive tackle John Hughes. Cleveland also used a second-round pick to take Baylor wideout Josh Gordon in the supplemental draft.
Oddsmakers currently list the Browns as massive 200/1 long shots to win the 2013 Super Bowl. Those are the words odds of all 32 NFL teams, although the Jaguars are also 200/1 to win this year’s Super Bowl.
Cleveland also has 75/1 odds to win the AFC title game, which again puts the Browns in the long-shot category. Predictably, the Browns have the worst odds of all four teams in the AFC North at 25/1, and the over/under total for the number of wins this season has been set at 5.
One could make the argument that this is an improved Browns team but it’s awfully young. Weeden, despite being 28, is a rookie, as is Gordon and Richardson. Greg Little, a player that the Browns are hoping to be a No. 1 receiver some day, is only in his second year. The defense has improved itself over the years but opponents gauged Cleveland on the ground last year and the Browns could struggle in that area of the game again this season.

2013 Super Bowl Odds: 200/1
