Browns vs. Packers Pick

Will the Browns win in Robert Griffin III’s debut tonight at 8:00PM ET when Cleveland takes on the Green Bay Packers?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Packers are now 2.5-point home favorites versus the Browns after the line opened at Green Bay -3.5. As for the total, the number opened at 36.5 but has been bet down a full two points to 34.5.

Bet Tonight’s Browns vs. Packers Game

On Monday Browns coach Hue Jackson said he’s “tickled pink” by RGIII’s upside this season. The team did a great job beefing up the talent around Griffin, who was named the starter on Monday as well. Not only did the team select Baylor receiver Corey Coleman in the first round of April’s draft, but the Browns also locked up Gary Barnidge, return Duke Johnson, and are expected to have the dangerous Josh Gordon back from suspension in Week 5.

ESPN’s Jason Wilde reports the Packers will likely sit out Aaron Rodgers after the team’s Hall of Fame Game matchup with the Colts was cancelled last week. Rodgers worked with the scout team in practice on Wednesday and with second-year signal-caller Brett Hundley also still sidelined with an ankle injury, Joe Callahan will see significant reps.

OUR PICK: With this being Jackson’s debut as a head coach and all the question marks that surround Cleveland heading into the regular season, look for the Browns to want to start off hot. Not only will Jackson want his team to perform well in his debut, but RGIII will no doubt want to make a positive impression on the team’s fan base as well. Once RGIII comes out, veteran Josh McCown will come off the bench and eventually Austin Davis will enter the game as well. McCown and Davis should put together a good showing against Green Bay’s backups, so take the points tonight with Cleveland.
