Browns vs. Jets Total Prediction
Week 2 in the NFL wraps up tonight when the Jets host the Browns at 8:15 p.m. ET. Even though Sam Darnold is out for the Jets, is the over still a good play for bettors?
Game Snapshot
289 Cleveland Browns at 290 New York Jets
8:15 p.m. ET, Monday, September 16, 2019
MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ
According to our NFL Public Betting Chart page, the Browns are drawing 60% of the betting tickets ahead of tonight’s game. The line has jumped from 3 to 6.5 due to Darnold’s injury situation.
Cleveland Browns Fantasy Spin
Rashard Higgins (knee) is questionable for Week 2 against the Jets. Earlier in the week, Higgins said he’d be good to go for Monday Night Football, but Browns coach Freddie Kitchens said he wasn’t really sure if that was the case. Higgins was a limited participant all week, a sign that he’s most likely on track to suit up. With Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry, and David Njoku all involved, Higgins is just a low-volume WR5 whenever he’s healthy.
New York Jets Fantasy Spin
Le’Veon Bell (shoulder) is officially questionable for Week 2 against the Browns. All signs point to Bell playing, but he’ll be without his starting quarterback and two key defenders on the other side of the ball. Bell’s full-snap workload makes him game script-independent, and he should be targeted heavily if the Jets trail. Bell is a solid RB1, especially after Derrick Henry went off against Cleveland last week.
Cleveland
The under is 9-1 in the Browns’ last 10 games following a double-digit loss at home and is 5-1-1 in their last seven games when facing an opponent with a losing record.
New York
The over is 6-2 in the Jets’ last eight home games and is 5-0 in their last five games when facing an opponent with a losing record.
Prediction: With Trevor Siemian under center tonight, look for the Jets to keep the ball on the ground with Le’Veon Bell. Despite their loss last week, Bell looked sharp, showing his usual patience and vision. If they do lean on the ground game, that will eat clock and hopefully for us, keep the scoring in check. On the other side, the Browns struggled with the Titans, who blitzed plenty and confused Baker Mayfield out of Cover 2 looks. Look for Gregg Williams to do the same thing tonight when he faces his former team.
NFL WEEK 2 PREDICTION: BROWNS/JETS UNDER 45.5
