Indianapolis Colts DFS Spin
Matt Ryan completed 32-of-50 passes for 352 yards and a touchdown in the Colts’ 20-20 tie against the Texans in Week 1. Ryan noticeably struggled to generate any downfield targets and had to get play-action to really attack the intermediate area with any consistency. He also fumbled two snaps and was fortunate that a few of his tight targets didn’t get picked. The Texans defense did manage to put some heat on the older quarterback, but this felt a lot more like watching Philip Rivers’ last year in Indianapolis than it did watching a career resurgence for the 37-year-old. Ryan draws the Jaguars in Week 2, which looks to put him on the QB1 borderline after they allowed Carson Wentz to go off in Week 1.
Jacksonville Jaguars DFS Spin
Trevor Lawrence completed 24-of-42 passes for 275 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Jaguars’ 28-22, Week 1 loss to the Commanders. Lawrence and the Jaguars will wonder what could have been had it not been for some missed opportunities in this one. On the first drive of the game, Lawrence led the Jaguars downfield, and just missed Travis Etienne on what would have been a 15-yard touchdown — instead settling for a field goal. Robinson would miss a wide-open Marvin Jones for a big gain on the team’s second drive. And late in the second quarter Etienne would drop a walk-in touchdown pass on fourth and goal. Lawrence’s lone touchdown pass came in the third quarter on a three-yard touchdown pass to James Robinson, but things could’ve gone much better for the second-year signal caller. Facing pressure throughout much of the afternoon, Lawrence looked composed and limited turnovers, with his lone interception coming at the end of the fourth quarter. Lawrence will be difficult to trust in next week’s home opener against the Colts despite an encouraging first outing.
