MNF spread drops nearly two points
The point spread for tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup between the Colts and Panthers has dropped nearly two points ahead of the 8:30PM ET kickoff.
Earlier this morning we wrote about how the line for tonight’s game hadn’t moved since opening at Carolina -6.5. But within a couple of hours the line had fallen to 6 and now, according to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag, the Panthers are only 5-point favorites.
The reason for the movement is unclear but apparently sharp bettors like something about the Colts’ chances of keeping the game close. While Carolina enters play with a 6-0 record and is 5-1 against the spread this season, Indianapolis is just 3-4 straight up and 2-5 at the betting window.
Perhaps this is the night Andrew Luck comes alive and puts the Colts on his back. He might have to, because Carolina’s defense has been stout through the first two months of the season. They rank 10th overall in yards allowed (345.3), are 12th in passing yards allowed (235.3), and fifth in points allowed (18.3).
