Colts vs. Texans Total Prediction
Even with Deshaun Watson out for the season, will the Colts and Texans light up the scoreboard on Sunday when the two teams meet at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday?
Game Info
Matchup: Colts (2-6) at Texans (3-4)
TV: CBS, 1:00 p.m. ET
Line: Texans -13 (49.5)
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the over/under for Sunday’s game currently sits at 46 points, down from the original number of 48. As for the point spread, the Texans are 7-point home favorites versus the Colts, who opened as 11-point road underdogs. The reason is obvious for the drop: Watson suffered a torn ACL at practice on Thursday and oddsmakers were forced to adjust.
PUBLIC BETTING: As of this writing, the Texans are receiving nearly 60% of the bets for Sunday’s game.
KEY TRENDS: The Colts are 3-0-1 against the spread in their last four games in Houston and is 5-2-2 against the number in their last nine games versus the Texans. The underdog is also 3-0-2 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams while the road team is 4-0-2 ATS in the last six meetings of this series.
OUR PREDICTION: I was set to take the over with Watson healthy but now that he’s done for the season, I don’t know what to make of this game. Tom Savage is such a big drop from Watson that I’m inclined to take the under. Watson was lighting up defenses on a weekly basis, posting a record 19 touchdowns in his first seven NFL games. Savage looked lost in preseason and lost in Week 1 when he got a start against the Jaguars (before he was benched at halftime for Watson). I suspect Bill O’Brien will lean on Lamar Miller and his running game moving forward. Even though Indy’s defense is horrendous, I’ll take the under in what should be a sloppy, un-watchable game.
NFL WEEK 9 OVER/UNDER PREDICTION: COLTS/TEXANS UNDER 46
