Washington Commanders

The Commanders went on the road in the Wild Card round and took down the Tampa Bay Bucs 23-20 last week. Jayden Daniels completed 24 of 35 pass attempts for 268 yards and two touchdowns. He also led the team with 36 rushing yards. Dyami Brown and Terry McLaurin each finished with 89 yards and a touchdown. The defense allowed just 284 total yards and had a fumble recovery. Bobby Wagner suffered an ankle injury but is off the injury report and should be a full go on Saturday.

Detroit Lions

The Lions finished their season with a battle against the Vikings for first place in the division and a first round bye. They ended up winning 31-9. Jared Goff completed 27 of 33 pass attempts for 231 yards. He also had a touchdown pass and two interceptions. Jahmyr Gibbs went off for 139 yards rushing along with 3 touchdowns, and added another 31 yards and a touchdown receiving. Amon-Ra St. Brown added 77 yards receiving. Alex Anzalone returned to the field and led the team in tackles with 7. David Montgomery is set to return to the field against the Commanders as well.

Washington is 4-1 SU in their last 5 road games

The UNDER is 3-2 in Washington’s last 5 games

Detroit is 5-0 ATS in their las5 home games against Washington

The OVER is 4-1 in Detroit’s last 5 games

Commanders vs. Lions Prediction:

Take the points with the Commanders in this matchup. Washington has only lost by 9+ points one time all season. That was the first game of the season and was against the same Bucs team they just beat in the Wild Card round. The Lions defense has struggled late in the season after suffering multiple injuries. They only allowed 9 points to the Vikings, but if you watched that game, there were multiple opportunities for the Vikings to find the end zone. Sam Darnold just choked and wouldn’t pull the trigger. I trust Jayden Daniels. He has played great in his rookie season and didn’t let the road crowd get to him in Tampa last week. The Lions have struggled against dual threat QBs this season, allowing 61 rush yards on 10 carries to Anthony Richardson, and 68 yards and 2 touchdowns to Josh Allen. Washington is the best team in the NFL in 4th down conversion percentage and in a game that will see very few punts, this game will come down to a very few plays. Detroit will win but I think the Commanders keep this one close and cover.

Commanders vs. Lions Prediction: Commanders +9.5
