Washington Commanders DFS Spin
Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin has blossomed into a terrific player this season. McLaurin ranks 8th in the NFL with 737 receiving yards as the Commanders’ clear-cut #1 receiver. McLaurin is doing it efficiently as well, as he’s averaging 16 yards per catch. He’s recorded at least 5 catches and 56 receiving yards in each of Washington’s last 4 games and he might be in for a big day against a Houston secondary that’s allowing 7.2 yards per pass attempt, a figure that ranks 26th in the league.
If you need a defense for Sunday’s NFL slate, consider the Washington Commanders. The Commanders are strong up front and have three defensive linemen with at least 4 sacks. They are Daron Payne (5.5), Jonathan Allen (4.5), and Montez Sweat (4). Sweat was the only one of the three to record a sack last week against Philly, and he should be able to help a Commanders defense that’s coming off one of their best performances of the year, forcing the Eagles to commit 4 turnovers. Houston’s offense ranks 26th in the NFL in points per play, thus creating some value for Washington’s defense in most DFS formats.
Houston Texans DFS Spin
Texans running back Dameon Pierce has been a workhorse this season. The 5’10” 218-pound rookie out of Florida has carried the ball at least 14 times in 8 straight games. Pierce has also recorded at least 1 reception in 8 of 9 games this season. He’s averaging 4.7 yards per carry and 5.7 yards per catch this season with 4 total touchdowns (3 rushing, 1 receiving). There’s some risk in using him this week as Washington ranks 10th in the NFL in opponent yards per rushing attempt, but the volume will likely be there for Dameon Pierce.
If you need a pass catcher, consider Houston wide receiver Nico Collins. Collins had his best game of the season last week against the Giants, recording season-highs in targets (10) and receptions (5). He also caught his first touchdown of the season. Collins is a big receiver (6’4” 218 pounds) and could pose a red zone threat against the Commanders this weekend.

Commanders vs. Texans Prediction:
Washington’s Monday Night Football win over the previously undefeated Eagles in Philadelphia is one of the best wins that any team has recorded this season. Since beginning the season 1-4, the Washington Commanders have gone 4-1 with their only loss coming against the Minnesota Vikings by a field goal. If the season ended today, Washington would be the first team out of the playoffs. The Commanders desperately need this game to stay in the playoff hunt, while the Texans might be going into tank mode because at 1-7-1 they have the worst record in the NFL. Add in the fact that Houston has the second-worst average scoring margin in the NFL (-6.4) and it only makes sense to lay the points with the scorching-hot Washington Commanders.
