Cowboys could show interest in AP
At least one report states that the Cowboys will pursue Adrian Peterson after the Vikings declined his option on Tuesday.
Reporter Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram stats that the Cowboys will look into signing Peterson now that he’s set to become a free agent on March 9. Dallas already has star running back Ezekiel Elliott but Peterson has been linked to the Cowboys in year’s past because of Jerry Jones’ affection for the soon-to-be former Viking.

In related news, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Jones “would pursue” Peterson if he’s still available by March 9, which again, is the start of free agency. The Vikings may wind up keeping AP on a restructured deal, but per Rapoport, Jones would like to “pair” Peterson with Elliott in a tandem backfield.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Vikings are 30/1 to win the 2018 Super Bowl, putting them in the same company as the Colts and Panthers. The Patriots remain favored at 11/2, while the Cowboys are 11/1 and the Falcons, Seahawks and Packers are both 12/1, respectively.
On Tuesday the Vikings announced that they would not pick up Peterson’s 2017 option, making him a free agent. This was expected as Peterson’s option was for $18 million, although GM Rick Spielman has not closed the door on the running back returning.
“Adrian is an important part of the Minnesota Vikings organization,” Spielman said. “We will continue to have conversations with his representatives and leave our future options open while determining what is best for both parties.”
